Kids' & Fun Center

First Steps Kids Academy offers a safe and nurturing home away from home where children love to learn, and parents can trust their child is getting the very best standard of education and care. We are a privately owned early learning centre located in Hamilton West. We provide all-day education and care for children in two aged-based rooms.

We have an open-door policy, and we encourage parents/whanau and caregivers to spend time with us getting to know our teachers and the routines that we incorporate into our programme. We provide positive and meaningful interactions between kaiako and tamariki to enhance children’s learning. Our language-rich environment is informed by the curriculum, Te Whāriki, Assessment, planning, and evaluation, which supports children’s learning and development. Our centre acknowledges and reflects the unique place of Māori as tangata whenua. This includes taking positive steps to seek and implement aspirations held by parents, whānau and our local curriculum for all tamariki. Our centre promotes children’s health, safety, and compliance to meet legal requirements.

Our leaders and kaiako develop reciprocal, responsive relationships with tamariki, parents and whānau. We prioritise how our partnerships with parents/whānau focus on extending children’s learning.
